They died long ago! But here 5 persons from medieval and Renaissance Ribe are brought to life

A short walk trough medieval Ribe will let you meet 5 renowned persons who lived in this town – long ago. Queen Dagmar, the merchant Hans Jessen Søhane, an enemy of pirates, Mrs. Maren Spliids, burnt at the stake for witchcraft, King Christopher I, murdered in the Cathedral, and the historian Anders Sørensen Vedel. They all tell us the story of their life – once upon a time.

Place: Skibbroen opposite the old custom house
Terminus: Liljebjerget, just west of the Cathedral. Here you can listen to medieval music, and drinks are available at the brewery
Time: at 5.00 p.m. and 6.30 p.m.
Admission: free (participants must pay for their own drinks at the end of the tour)

In the footsteps of ”The Danish Bellman” – Ambrosius Stub
- Join us for a lovely tour through Ribe with the actor and singer Christian Steffensen
15 th June – 21st June and 25 th June – 4 th July
Christian Steffensen invites you to join this dramatised tour through the charming streets of Ribe, where he, in the form of Ambrosius Stub, will guide the participants through the old town centre. The poet of the 1700s, Ambrosius Stub came to Ribe in 1752, where he lived until his death in 1758 where he was buried on the cemetery of the Sct. Catharinæ Church.
Stub is without compare the greatest lyricist and poet of the time of Holberg. He e. g. wrote juicy drinking songs, love poems, spiritual songs, nature lyrics, occasional poetry, bonmotes with titles like: I make thin Caffé - The bleak winter went his way – Thou beautiful rosebud – What is won by the wide sea of the world – Innocent pastimes – Is anyone, I am joyous.
During the tour through old beautiful Ribe, Christian Steffensen will entertain with lyrics and songs by Ambrosius Stub. History comes alive, when we visit old quarters and houses in town, which existed when Stub was alive.
